What do Woman Waiting for Adulterytartans, bagpipes and Stonehenge have in common? None are Irish.
And yet, McDonald's stirred up a lot of anger earlier this week when it shared a tweet promoting its Shamrock Shake featuring all three of those decidedly un-Irish things.
SEE ALSO: McDonald's re-engineered super-straw is not an early April Fools jokeIn the now-deleted tweet, McDonald's included a borderline creepy video of a man dressed in tartan slurping a Shamrock Shake as images of Stonehenge played behind him. The Independent managed to snag a full video before it was taken down.
Needless to say, the video left people wondering how McDonald's could get everything -- from the costume to the music to the backdrop -- so wrong.

The fast food retailer releases its minty Shamrock Shake each year ahead of St. Patrick's Day. Considering how beloved it has become, we're surprised McDonald's screwed this one up.
But as Eater noted, this could just be viral marketing done right.
Either way, we've reached out to McDonald's for comment should they wish to offer the Irish people a heartfelt apology.
