It looks like Minecraft: Story Mode,Watch Leverage Online the blocky, choice-driven adventure from Telltale Games (R.I.P.), isn't long for this world.
A Friday update posted on Minecraft.net warns players that Story Modewill be disappearing from a number of platform stores at the end of June. And in an uncommon twist, it seems this will be a complete and total removal.
Here's the statement:
On behalf of the publisher, Minecraft: Story Mode - A Telltale Games Series, Season 1 and 2 will no longer be supported on June 25th, 2019. If you have purchased these seasons, please download all remaining episodes prior to the service being discontinued in June.
It's not yet clear what will happen to the Netflix version of Minecraft: Story Modeon June 25. Mashable reached out to the streaming provider for answers and we'll update accordingly when we hear back.
It's not unusual in the modern era for video games from defunct publishers to be discontinued, especially when there's a licensing deal in the mix. What's less common is for those discontinued games to vanish entirely.
Usually, when a game is removed from an online retail portal like Steam, anyone who previously owned that game can continue to see it their library, and download and install it from the store. This message from the Minecraft team suggests otherwise for Story Mode, specifically exhorting the game's owners to "download all remaining episodes" before it's too late.

It's entirely possible that, come June 25, this situation will affect more than just the Minecraft game. Story Modeis the only game Minecraft.net would have an interest in, but there are tons of other Telltale titles and no public voice speaking for the publisher any longer.
If you reallywant to be safe, you might want to set aside some space on the old hard drive/storage device and get all of those old Telltale releases installed before June 25. Just in case.
