As an adult,Bridesmaids A XXX Parody the warmer months tend to blur together like long-forgotten calendar notifications hitting you all at once."Wait, it's June? Now it's July? Mid-August? How did we get here?"
Forget about the "Sunday Scaries" — nothing beats that sinking feeling of existential dread when you realize it's been X number of years since you've been out of school. Meaning it's been X number of years since you've had a proper summer vacation. Bummer.
Sure, if your company's big enough, they might throw you a summertime bone by letting you out at 2 p.m. on Friday or catering an occasional BBQ luncheon. But if the focus is more on the bottom line than employee moral time, you might be stuck counting the days until you're chugging cheap beer out of a paper bag on the train with all the other pastel short-clad bros on your only three-day weekend.
But that's no reason why you can't make the most out of (arguably) the best season of the year. Don't be beat down by the heat, the dress code, or the confines of your desk — get creative! If you work hard, you can play hard too, without needing to refresh your Insta feed every few seconds for vacay inspiration.
Commuting during the summer is its own kind of private hell — if you take public transit, you are publicly subjected to every range of body odor known to humankind. Less clothes and tight spaces also gives you a one way ticket to sweat town. If you drive a car, you may or may not have air conditioning, and even then there's something about the summer that always brings out the worst in road rage.
But you know what can make it a little more bearable? Jamming out to a personalized summer playlist! Fill it with bops that remind you of beach trips and pool parties of yore, or create a mix of all the best hit "songs of the summer" from the past decade. Your ears, and your sanity, will thank you.

Believe it or not, your blah workspace could be messing with your productivity. Not to make this all about how useful someone is under Capitalism™, but you may work better when your environment puts a pep in your step (or or fingers, if you're typing away on that laptop all summer.)
Extend your spring cleaning into the summer and give your desk a fresh start! Flex on that cubicle next to yours with the same sense of decorating superiority you feel when you watch a bad renovation on HGTV and think "I could do that backsplash justice."
Add some fun (work appropriate) desk decorations and renovations — a poster of a beach scene! Some string lights! A tiny desk sandbox! The possibilities are endless, and Pinterest will be your best friend here.

If you're missing a cookout in the park to go over spreadsheets with Mark, you can still eat like the smell of charcoal grill is inches from your nose.
Making your own lunch in general is both easier on your wallet, and gives you the opportunity to dunk on studies that say Millennials are killing the at-home cooking industry.
Break out the cooking videos and learn to make your own BBQ, baked beans, and potato salad. Or get crazy with some salad and take advantage of all the in-season summer produce. You can also come up with fun ways to stay hydrated in the heat by infusing your water with some fresh fruit and mint. Forget poolside cocktails — you need your pee to be clear, people!
Despite what your office dress code might require, there is no reason for you to suffer under the summer heat (and the fashion constraints of corporate culture) to make it through the season. Unless, of course, you're required to wear a uniform ala Steve Harrington working at Scoops Ahoy. Then I can only offer condolences.
But even still, rotating your wardrobe around and choosing a bright piece or two is a great way to carry the spirit of summer with you — it could even be as small as wearing a pair of summer novelty socks, or some rad statement earrings.
Keep it breezy. Keep it beautiful. But keep it corporate.
You are legally mandated to have a lunch break. Use it.
But seriously, if the climate control in your office is set to -25 degrees, you need three throw blankets to function, and you have a designated office hoodie, it may be time to take a break in the heat. Take a walk in the lovely weather while you still can, and breathe in that fresh outdoor air! Although, this tip applies less when it's over 90 degrees, or if you work in a city where the main airflow has a hint ofhot trash in it.
But it's good for your mood and focus to get a straight hit of that Vitamin D. Even if you have to work through lunch, take your laptop outside and finish those expense reports in the sunshine.

You don't have to be a plant influencer to enjoy the effects that flora and fauna can bring to your office life. Studies have shown that having plants can help reduce stress, clean the air, and increase productivity. So either get your own little green desk buddies, or pitch the idea of bringing in some outside leafy units for the whole workspace to enjoy.
Going along with desk decoration, you can also liven up your plant ownership too — give them names! Decorate the pots! Just make sure to chose plants that will thrive well in an office environment. Some good, low-maintenance options are succulents, aloe, and philodendrons.
Unless you're someone working at one of those hip, millennial startups with perks like game rooms and unlimited happy hours, you're probably responsible for making your own fun activities in the office.
Book a conference room to stream the hottest blockbusters of the summer. Take whatever steamy summer paperback you would've brought to the beach, and start a book club with other office literature fans. Livestream sports games and get everyone to wear their team colors to the office.
The point is solidarity — remember that if you're stuck in the office during the summer, your coworkers are too.

We get it — booze is pretty great. But not everyone drinks, and not everyone can drink at work (without embarrassing yourself in front of your boss, at least.) So if you have a hankering for the social connection that only comes from cracking open a cold one with the boys, trying cracking open a cold frozen dairy treat instead!
Ask your office manager if you they can sponsor a little after work sundae station, or just go the budget route and stuff the office freezer with a million Choco Tacos from 7/11.
Either way, everyone will get through the work day a little happier knowing they have a bit of creamy indulgence to look forward to. Even if you're lactose intolerant, you can always take some Lactaid and enjoy the party, or simply ignore the fact that you're lactose intolerant (like myself, and several others do on the reg.) Or, ya know, find an icy treat that is non-dairy.
We can't all agree that fitness necessarily equals fun, but moving and grooving your body is a good way to not feel trapped in an office space. Find unique ways to get your daily steps in, and also give your mental health a little boost too!
If your building has steps, assemble a group and walk them. If you have access to a rooftop, plan a yoga sesh, or some light cardio. Hacky-sack it out in the office parking lot. Even just getting up and offering to go on a coffee run will loosen you up at least a little.
Of course, as always, beware the dreaded sweat factor and consider its impact on your aforementioned corporate wardrobe choices. Bring an extra shirt if necessary.

Whiteboards — great for brainstorming sessions, hashing out points mades during a meeting, drawing Goku fighting the Statue of Liberty, and also maybe some dicks.
Let loose this summer and unless your inner artist (good or bad) on your office whiteboard. If you can't take up a whole board, designate a "doodle corner" for the summer and see what your coworkers come up with. You might be surprised that you have some secret office Michaelangelos on the premises.
Remember to keep it PG-13 though — think more "Squidward Smells Good" than American Vandal.
So don't fear the "summer scaries"! If you can't physically whisk yourself away to Margaritaville, you can at least give yourself the seasonal mini escape you deserve.
