British supermarket Tesco012 Archivestaking steps to eliminate gender-differentiated pricing on products sold in its stores, by cutting the price of women's standard razors to equal that of similar men's products.
After all, men and women both shave, so why should women have to pay more for their razors?
Though to some the store's latest step towards gender equality may seem small, a 2016 investigation by The Times found that high street stores in the UK were charging women twice as much as men for items like razors, simply because of their pink coloring.
Does that seem fair?
According to The Guardian, Tesco was charging £1 ($1.23) for a pack of five women's twin-blade razors, which was double the cost of the men's equivalent. Thanks to some pressure from Labour MP Paula Sherriff, the store took the necessary steps to make the change.

In a letter to Sherriff, Tesco’s commercial director for packaged products, Kari Daniels, explained the twin-blade razors differed in pricing because "... male razors are produced and sold in significantly higher volumes, which reduces the price we pay for them."
She went on to describe Tesco's internal review of the matter and confirmed the store has "aligned the prices of these products so that the male and female razors are the same price per unit."
Both male and female razor sets now cost 10p per unit and 2017 appears to be off to a solid start. At least in terms of grooming products.
