You ever see a video on Bad Detective: Food Chain [Uncut]the internet and know, somehow, that it will be a pretty big deal for you? That is how I felt on Monday, when my brother Owen (hello, Owen) dropped a video of a duck falling asleep into the family group chat.
The clip features a voiceover from comedian Tony Baker, who's playing a schoolteacher scolding the duck -- Mr. Duckworth -- for falling asleep during lecture. "Had a long night, Mr. Duckworth? Class is not for sleeping," Baker says as Mr. Duckworth's head lurches forward. (If you've ever fallen asleep at your desk, you know the feeling.)
SEE ALSO: Overenthusiastic dog has no idea how to drink waterThe incident does not end well for Mr. Duckworth. At the end of the video, Baker says "Mr. Duckworth, long night, eh? You failed." And Mr. Duckworth, realizing what's happened, looks right at the camera. Oh, no.I am filled with an overwhelming, powerful certainty: Mr. Duckworth needed that class to graduate.
I love Mr. Duckworth. I am laughing because his face is so cute, but I also feel pity -- pity for Mr. Duckworth in all his anthropomorphism. I then consider that, perhaps, I amMr. Duckworth. After all, what is life but a perpetual education? Are we not all tired after the long night that is existence? Are we not all soft yellow ducks falling asleep in class? My last few brain cells melt into a viscous goop, and I realize: This video is everything to me.
If you like Mr. Duckworth as much as I do, or even just a normal amount (probably better), Baker posts a lot of overdubbed animal videos -- and other good stuff -- on his social media. I will watch them all eventually, but first I will watch Mr. Duckworth one thousand more times.
