On this week's episode of MashTalk, andrew hewitt eroticism nationalism the MashableTech team talks about a wide range of things happening in the tech world from Android to VR to McDonald's (yes, Mickey D's) to Apple CEO Tim Cook.
I'm joined this week by our Chief Correspondent Lance Ulanoff and for the first time by our tech analyst and editor Adario Strange. It's my first time manning our podcast and I somehow didn't mess it all up!
SEE ALSO: The 10 best features hiding in the Android Nougat updateFirst up is Google's newly-released Android 7.0 Nougat (2:03), which is now available for Nexus phones and tablets. Nougat's not a complete revamp, but more about inner beauty. We also discuss Android fragmentation and why Android phones that aren't in the Nexus family are so slow to get updates.
We then move to virtual reality -- VEE ARRRRR (10:24). It's been about four months since the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive launched and we still haven't heard of any killer experiences that make VR a must-have. With Samsung's new Gear VR and Sony launching its PlayStation VR in a couple of months, it's a good time to take a look at the state of VR and put our bets on which one has the best chance at becoming mainstream.
The most interesting topic involves McDonald's and its short-lived Happy Meal fitness wearable (29:25). The fast food chain distributed a pedometer wristband wearable with Happy Meals last week, but within a couple of days recalled all of them after reports of people getting skin rashes from them.
And finally, we assessed Tim Cook's first five years as CEO of Apple post-Steve Jobs (35:46).
