According to the latest statistics from GoogleTrends, as of Tuesday at 10:33 GMT -- after the candy began trending on social platforms -- the United States showed a nine time spike in the search term "Skittles," making it more widely searched than Trump himself.

Following the meme upset caused by Donald Trump Jr.'s original tweet, Mars made a statement distancing itself from the analogy by declaring, "Skittles are candy; refugees are people," which people greatly appreciated.

The graph shows a notable spike in "Skittles" searches throughout the last four hours, with the peak on Sept. 20 at 10:33 GMT exceeding all "Donald Trump" searches. So if we think of Google Trends in terms of the election, Skittles are essentially beating Trump in the "polls." What a time to be alive.
