The Game of Thronespremiere was stuffed full of girl power -- and a surprising amount of humor (LOL ED SHEERAN) -- but aside from Arya Stark proving that she might be the show's answer to Lady Stoneheart, not much actually happened.
Sure, it was fun seeing Cersei and Euron trolling Jaime right to his face, Sansa shutting down Littlefinger with the most withering line delivery imaginable, and Daenerys finally making it home, but most of that maneuvering seemed to be setting the scene for the madness that's sure to come in the next six episodes.
Episode 2, on the other hand, looks like it'll be a lot more action-packed.
In the promo for next week's installment, titled "Stormborn," Daenerys is the name on everyone's lips, as both the Northern lords and Cersei try to paint our beloved khaleesi as a Westeros wrecking ball that can't wait to start swinging.
But there are a lot of other big moments teased in the promo -- just don't blink, or you might miss them.
Sound designer Paula Fairfield recently teased that there will be a "beautiful" wolf scene in Season 7, leading many to speculate that Arya might finally be reunited with her direwolf, Nymeria, after sending her furry sidekick away back in Season 1.
In next week's promo, we see Arya coming face to face with a regular wolf, who doesn't look too friendly -- but in George R. R. Martin'sA Song of Ice and Fire novels, at this point in his story, there are numerous witnesses who have seen a huge female wolf leading a pack around the Riverlands (the area where Nymeria was last seen, and where Arya was spotted in the premiere), attacking the Freys and the Lannisters.
So if Arya's coming face to face with a wolf in the Riverlands, there's a good chance Nymeria won't be far behind.
While the rest of Westeros is gossiping about the Dragon Queen, she's plotting her next move, and in episode 2, we're betting we'll see a lot more of Daenerys than we did in the premiere.
The promo shows Dany with her advisors and allies -- Tyrion, Ellaria, Yara, Theon, Grey Worm, Missandei and Varys -- as Yara encourages her to take the fight to Cersei: "We have an army, a fleet and three dragons, we should hit King's Landing now."
But Dany didn't spend all those years in exile to rush in without a plan -- it's far more likely that her first target will be the Lannisters' ancestral home of Casterly Rock, since Tyrion has intimate knowledge of its weak spots.
Will that sensible and well-thought-out plan stop Yara and Theon from rushing off to attack King's Landing without Dany's permission? We'd hope so, but you can never tell with those impulsive Greyjoys -- after all, there might be a reason why we've only seen Dany's Dothraki and Unsullied forces fighting the Lannisters in the Season 7 trailers.
The promo features a couple of super quick shots, one of which seems to show Ellaria and Yara on the verge of kissing in what looks like a ship's cabin. But there's another split-second shot of one of the Sand Snakes swinging a whip or other weapon.
Are these things connected? In the premiere, Euron promised that he wouldn't return to Cersei without a gift -- if he can't immediately get to Daenerys, we're guessing that Ellaria Sand, the woman who killed Cersei's daughter Myrcella, would be a nice substitute. And if Ellaria happens to be traveling with Yara and Theon, the only two family members that Euron hasn't managed to kill yet, that would handily kill two birds with one stone.
We don't know for sure, but we'd bet that we might get to see that epic sea battle the trailers have been teasing as early as episode 2.
Kit Harington recently told us that Jon Snow "hates" Littlefinger and the influence he's trying to exert over Sansa, and in the promo, we get a shot of Jon shoving Lord Baelish up against a wall with his hand around Littlefinger's throat.
Could that be because Littlefinger knows the truth about Jon's real mother and spills it at an inopportune time to try and weaken Jon's position as King in the North? Or is it because Littlefinger is once again trying to drive a wedge between Jon and Sansa? Either way, we can't wait to see the two face off.
